Antimicrobial resistance research in Edinburgh: Contributing solutions to a global crisis

We are delighted to invite you to join us for the launch of the Edinburgh Infectious Diseases strategy to address the rising global crisis of antimicrobial resistance.

The symposium will showcase the wide variety of on-going research into AMR at the University of Edinburgh, and will conclude with a panel discussion addressing current and future opportunities for research funding.

The presentations will cover 4 main themes:

• Global and local epidemiology of AMR
• Rapid diagnostics for more effective use of antibiotics
• Underpinning mechanisms of antibiotic resistance
  
• Alternatives to antimicrobials for controlling infections

Panel discussion:

Panel members will be Caroline Harris (MRC), Adam Staines (BBSRC), Alistair Leonard (Chief Medical Officcer's Office), Eleanor Anderson (CARS) and Catherine Burns (research Support Office, UoE), and will be chaired by Till Bachmann.

Poster sessions:

There will also be poster sessions during the coffee breaks and lunch time, and we encourage all students and postdocs to share their work with fellow attendees. There will be two rpizes of £50 for the best poster presented by a student and postdoc.

The event will finish with a drinks reception, which all are most welcome to attend!
